Antique Car Laws Across the United States

How Old Is Considered an Antique Car?

Per federal law, a vehicle is officially considered as an antique vehicle if it was manufactured at least 20 years prior to the current year and cannot be legally driven on any federal road unless it is going to or coming from an organized antique car event. However, most states set their own laws and regulations for antique vehicles based on a variety of factors. Some states define them as cars that are at least 35 years old or 45 years old (the most common). There are also states that set the maximum age to be as low as 25 years.
