Wednesday, May 24, 2024
In a nail-biting finish at the Target Center, the Dallas Mavericks snatched a 109-108 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday night, extending their series lead to 2-0. The game was highlighted by Luka Doncic's game-winning 3-pointer with just seconds remaining.
The Mavericks had established a comfortable lead midway through the third quarter, leading by 13 points. However, the Timberwolves fought back with a vengeance, led by Karl-Anthony Towns, who drained a crucial 3-pointer to bring Minnesota within striking distance.
With the game on the line, Doncic took matters into his own hands. He drove into the lane and drew a foul from Rudy Gobert. Doncic missed the first free throw but calmly sank the second, setting the stage for his game-winning shot.
The Timberwolves had a chance to tie the game with just seconds remaining, but Anthony Edwards' potential game-tying 3-pointer rimmed out, giving the Mavericks the dramatic win.
Doncic finished the game with a team-high 32 points, while Towns led the Timberwolves with 28 points. Anthony Davis added 20 points for the Timberwolves.
Game 3 of the series will take place on Friday, May 26, in Dallas.
